On August 18, 2023, Breakup Party Pilipinas took place at Jess and Pat’s in Maginhawa, Quezon City, turning the cozy spot into a lively gathering of art, culture, and sustainability. This event, part of our #BreakupWithSachets campaign, brought people from all walks of life together to celebrate the fight against plastic pollution. With International Youth Day as the backdrop, the event showcased how young Filipinos are leading the charge for sustainable change in their communities.

Building on the success of the 2022 edition of Breakup Party Pilipinas in Intramuros—which featured music, poetry, and local enterprises—the 2023 edition offered even more. Attendees enjoyed a fun mix of OPM Karaoke, Spoken Word performances, and film screenings, all designed to weave Filipino culture with the call for a more sustainable lifestyle. And it didn’t stop there; an online eco-festival also brought together volunteers and partners from all over the country, further strengthening the movement against plastic pollution.

A Turning Point for NOYPI 2025

The 2023 Breakup Party wasn’t just a celebration; it was a major step in our NOYPI 2025 movement and #BreakupWithSachets campaign. By engaging people through art and community, we’ve shown that sustainability isn’t just important. It can also be a fun and natural part of Filipino life.

Why Call It a Breakup Party?

The whole idea of a Breakup Party is to make sustainability relatable and enjoyable. It’s about encouraging people to “break up” with single-use plastics, especially sachets, which are so common in Filipino households. The goal? To inspire people to change their habits and see that living sustainably isn’t just possible—it’s deeply connected to our culture and heritage.

The #BreakupWithSachets Journey

The #BreakupWithSachets campaign continues to spread awareness and push for solutions to the plastic sachet crisis in the Philippines. In 2023, the focus was on shifting consumer behavior to get more Filipinos to embrace refilling stations as part of their daily routine. By working with youth across the country, we’ve promoted refilling as the sustainable alternative to single-use plastics.

Looking ahead, the campaign is gearing up to roll out refilling stations in supermarkets nationwide and, by 2025, expand this effort to sari-sari stores.

The 2023 Breakup Party Pilipinas brought these goals into clearer focus, showing that when we combine cultural pride and collective action, we can make real progress on environmental issues!
